Hello, This is a story about the Walnut Squirrel family that I received from Sylvanian Families UK (as a friend of sylvanian families) and follows up my last review of them. I really hope that you like the story and that you may be persuaded to get this wonderful family if you have not already! See you next time, Willow Cottontail ;-) It was autumn in the sylvanian village so the leaves were dancing gracefully to the ground to announce that winter was coming. Everyone was dressing up warm in their festive winter wollies and warming up inside like the Walnut squirrel family... He did not intend to knock over the paints or spill the soup on Freya or even the other 101 accidents that involved him so when his mother gave him a look of disapproval he bowed his head, waiting to be told off for the one hundred and second time but all he heard was, "Tut, tut, tut! You need to become more like your sister here who has already started her homework and not got into mischievous business again." There was a long pause while Saffron modestly gleamed until she was the colour of her of her golden dress before her mother continued,"You're a cheeky monkey!" Saffron and Yardley wrapped themselves in a blanket of silence- there was nothing else to be said. Moments later, a strong brisk gust of wind poured into the room followed by heavy thumps of wellington boots, then leaves and a trail of mud. Then Cedric boomed, "Oh hello , how nice to see you all, especially my golden girl!" Saffron just smiled at all of this attention but then Ralph had an idea! Just as Yardley was about to nag her husband , Cedric, for bringing in half of the garden with him as well as a basket of fresh, homegrown vegetables, she was interrupted by Ralph saying,"Can I please go out for a bit, I won't be too long and when I come back I will be a good as gold? Please!" After glancing at one another, his parents reluctantly said "As long as you stay out of trouble!" Then with that, he was off! Only 5 minutes later, Ralph had arrived at the Sylvanian woods ,that was on the other side of the village, out of breath as he had pushed his wheel barrow all of the way there. He then swiftly set off on his mission to impress his parents by finding real gold! After two hours of non- stop digging, Ralph finally had to give up. He then slouched down to rest by a nearby tree. Only then did he realise what a mess he had made and how much soil he had digged up for no reason except to find an old fork that he briefly cleaned and placed in his wheel barrow. Reluctantly, Ralph hauled himself up from his seating position to clean up the mess that he had made before glumly dawdling home without any gold! On his long walk back, out of the corner of his eye Ralph spotted something golden, it was honey! He was glad that he had found something like real gold that he had almost tripped over his wheel barrow so he went to ask Horace Honey, “Can I please have some of your delicious honey for my parents?” Ralph tried to put on an innocent face like his sister but what Horace said was, “You may have some of my delicious honey if you earn it and help me make some more as it’s harder than you think to make.” Ralph only thought about this for a moment before asking what he could do to help!
“I hope you don’t mind me saying that Ralph has been as good as gold helping me collect my honey, I couldn’t have done it without him!” Everyone was startled by this as they had not realised that Horace had walked in after Ralph (it was a pleasant surprise though) and especially Ralph as he had just realised what real gold was! Ralph then explained everything that had happened to his family about trying to find them durable gold to helping out Horace as a trade for some golden honey to just realising what real gold was- being kind, helpful “And having all of your loved ones around you!” Finished his mother and then they all hugged a long, loving hug. Only when Ralph’s stomach grumbled as it has not eaten in hours did the hug end. They all then came up with the idea that they would all make vegetable and honey pie for them all to share using the home-grown vegetables from the garden and homemade honey! After quite a bit of teamwork, the pie was finally on the table and Horace and Ralph were discussing how they were going to improve and expand the beekeeping business by selling honey and vegetable pie that tasted delicious! Ralph had now learnt his lesson that you do not need durable gold to have happiness and that instead what you really need has been there all along, a loving family and friends! Thank you for reading and I hope that you like it!
